The word bangle comes from the Sanskrit word Bangri or Bangali, which means "ornaments that adorn the arms." Young women and married women in India often use bangles to enhance their beauty. Women can use bangles made from different materials. They include glass, ivory, wood, conch, and metals such as gold and silver. Bangles have been in use in India for several centuries. There are references to women wearing bangles in ancient scriptures. In stories and legends, most women wore bangles made from flowers on their wrists along with gold, terracotta, and bangles made from other materials. 

 We can find pieces of evidence of the usage of bangles in a female figurine found from the archaeological site of Mohenjo Daro. The woman is holding one of her arms on her hip, and the other has several bangles in it. As per the ancient fragments collected from different places, the people made bangles using terracotta, stones, or shells. There are other figurines of Yakshinis, a form of spirit, wearing bangles in her hands. In Banabhatta's Kadamalari, there is a reference to Goddess Saraswati with Kangan or bangles in her hands.

n the Vedic texts, we can find the relevance of wearing bangles illustrated. It is about the sound waves created from the bangles and their ability to vitalize the motor organs

Significance of wearing Bangles: Women, both young and married, wear bangles on their arms. They are a symbolic representation of our cultural and traditional belief systems. People perceive that having an empty hand without bangles in it can invite negative energies. In some parts of India, it is a bad omen. So, others often encourage women to wear bangles regularly. Married women wear both gold and glass bangles in their hands. It is because glass bangles help to enhance the well being of their husband as well as sons. For married women, it is also a sign of Suhaag. Apart from that, there are a plethora of religious and scientific significances associated with women wearing bangles in their arms. Here, we will deal with some of them.

1. In the ancient days, men used to work in forests and farms. Even though women did household jobs, they weren't hard labor. Due to less muscle work and lower physical activity, it could cause an increase in their blood pressure. When women wear bangles on their wrists, it causes friction. It is a way of increasing blood circulation, which reduces the chances of anger and impatience as well

. 2. The bangles are in the shape of a circle or a ring. When we wear them, the positive energy that flows from a woman's body enters the loop. It won't be able to leave the body and will pass again into her body. Bangles, thus, help in recharging our vitalities.

3. People give pregnant women bangles during their baby shower or in the seventh month of their pregnancy. It is because sound waves help in the development of the brain cells of the baby. When women wear six bangles, it can provide Tarak-Marak Shakti. When women use eight bangles, it can offer Marak-Tarak Shakti. When women wear twelve bangles, it can give Marak Shakti 

Women in India often wear bangles. Bangles play a significant role in the culture and tradition of our country. It helps in improving the flow of positive energy and reducing the chances of confronting negative vitalities
