First of all, wash the rosary with Kushodak i.e. Darbha water, Panchagavya and pure water and then apply fragrant sandalwood on it. After that, take a Peepal leaf and place the Japamala on it. If Peepal leaf is not available, then place the Japamala in a plate. First ॐ ह्रीं अं आं इं ईं उं ऊ ऋ ऋ लृ लूं एं ऐं ओं औं अं अः कं खं गं घंङ चंछ जं झं अं टं ठं डं ढं णं तं थं दं धं नं पं फं बं भं पं यं रंलं वंशं षं सं हे क्षेत्रं- Perform Nyasa of these 53 Matrikas i.e. keep your left hand on the rosary and say these words in a loud voice. After that get the priest to perform the Sanskar with Sadyojata mantras. Then perform Panchopchara Puja with fragrance, flowers, incense, lamp and offerings respectively.

Perform similar Sanskar on the rosary to be worn around the neck. But the rosary around the neck should not be used for Japa. Also, the Japa rosary should not be worn around the neck. If the above mentioned rosary-Sanskar is not possible, then sprinkle Panchagavya on the rosary and apply fragrance on it. Chant the mantra of Ishtdevata and Kuldevata 100 times on each bead. Later perform Panchopchara Puja and use the rosary.
