Blowing the conch is a type of sadhana. Blowing the conch on any important occasion reveals something new in the future. Blowing the conch must be done on occasions like seeing the face of a new child, seeing the face of a great grandson, seeing the faces of the bride and groom, arrival of an unusual person and beginning of the daily worship. The art of blowing the conch is not learnt in a day. While placing your mouth on the mouth of the conch, the necessary formation of the lips, the amount of suppressed breath, concentration of mind and strength of will power - the proper combination of these four important things is necessary.
Only then does the sound emanate from the conch. If even one of these becomes a little weak, then the desired sound does not come out of the conch.
While buying a conch for blowing the conch, you must have a knowledgeable person with you. It contains the process of a special type of Bahya Kumbhaka (Pranayama), therefore it agitates the entire nervous system of the body. It awakens the dormant system. The entire environment is purified by blowing the conch. Its vibration transmits auspicious and Sattvic action power. Experiments have proved that speech related disorders are also destroyed by the continuous practice of blowing the conch.
Put silver on the mouth of the conch used for blowing the conch. Do not keep this conch in the prayer room, but keep it on a tripod on the side. Clean the conch by wiping it from inside and outside with a wet cloth during the worship. Offer fragrance and flowers on it. Also keep Tulsi leaves. Do not offer rice grains on the conch. Do not throw water on God from this conch. While placing the conch on the tripod, its mouth should be towards you. Clean the mouth of the conch after blowing the conch. Women do not have the right to blow the conch but this rule is only for pregnant women. Reason- The tension on the organs while blowing the conch has an adverse effect on the womb. Apart from this, a pregnant woman should not listen to the loud sound of the conch from close. If a woman blows the conch during menstruation, the sound of the conch becomes harsh and out of tune. Therefore, blowing the conch should not be done in this condition.
