Values like Maatar: Sarvabhutanam Goshu Paanma Na Vidyate (Mahabharata), Gostu Matra Na Vidyate (Rig Veda) and Sarve Devah Sthiti Tatha Dehe (Brihat Parashar Smriti) etc. confirm the importance of cow. Indians know the greatness of cow since time immemorial. But recently, in progressive countries like Germany, America and Russia, studies have been done on cow urine, cow dung, milk, curd and ghee, which have proved their unique importance.
The milk of a healthy cow and the curd and ghee made from it are pure, digestive, anthelmintic, strength enhancer, intellect enhancer and motivator. The smoke coming out of the cow dung cakes does not pollute the environment but eliminates it. Investigation of the basic substances of cow urine shows that it is disease preventive, disease resistant, disinfectant and prevents other processes. Ayurveda says that by regular massage with cow urine, all types of skin diseases are completely cured. Cow urine is very beneficial in bone and liver related diseases. Cow milk is a panacea for lung diseases like tuberculosis etc.
For preparing the Panchagavya as per scriptures, take one part of cow urine, two parts of curd, three parts of cow milk, half part of ghee, one part of cow dung and one part of Kushodak i.e. Darbha water. If you use pali (a type of ladle) for measuring the parts, then in total eight and a half pali of Panchagavya will be prepared. Even the non-mantra Panchagavya is extremely beneficial. If it is consecrated, then it proves to be more fruitful. For this, take a vessel. Then put those things in it one by one and recite the following mantra-
यो देवः सविताऽस्माकं धियो धर्माधि गोचरे। प्रेरयेत्तस्य तद्भर्गस्त द्वरेण्यमुपास्महे ।। इस मंत्र से गोमूत्र डालें।
चंद्र मण्डल सङ्काशं सर्वदेव प्रियं दधि। पंचगव्यमेलनार्थ अत्रानीतं पिपेन्भव ।। इस मंत्र से गोदुग्ध डालें।
गन्ध द्वारां दुराधर्षा नित्यपुष्टां करीषिणीम्। ईश्वरी सर्वभूतानां तामिहो पहवये श्रियम ।। इस मंत्र से गोमूत्र डालें।
शुक्रमासि ज्योतिरासि तेजोडाडिए ।। इस मंत्र से गोघृत डालें।
देवस्य त्वा सपितुः प्रसवेऽश्विनो र्बाहुभ्यां पूष्णो हस्ताभ्याम् ।। इस मंत्र से कुशोदक यानी दर्भ का पानी डालें।
Pregnant cow's milk and curd should not be taken for Panchagavya. Cow's milk and curd can be taken 21 days after the cow gives birth. Cow urine should be fresh and It should be filtered two-three times. Cow's curd should be set the previous day. Kush should be green. Panchagavya is also used for purification of idols and rosary. After sprinkling them with Panchagavya, wash them again with clean water.
