Why worship Yantra?

The totality of worship lies in the idol of God along with mantra, yantra and definite method (Tantra). It is described in Tantra Shastra that like idol and mantra, gods reside in yantras too. It is a big mistake to consider them as mere geometric shapes. Because the secret elements of worship are contained in the establishment of their various shapes, mantras and seed mantras. Therefore, to worship yantras properly, it is very important to be initiated in a specific tradition.

Here, it should be specially kept in mind that the yantra should be made under the supervision of an experienced scholar. Yantra worship should be done only after its consecration. It is described in Tantra Shastra that even just by seeing a yantra installed at a specific place and worshipped regularly, the desired desire is fulfilled.

Why is Sriyantra a Yantraraj?

According to a mythological tale, once Goddess Lakshmi became angry with the earth and went to Vaikunth. In the absence of Lakshmi, many problems arose on earth. Despite the repeated requests of Maharishi Vashishtha and Lord Vishnu, Lakshmi did not listen. Then Devguru Brihaspati suggested the method of installing and worshipping 'Sriyantra' to attract Lakshmi. Lakshmi was forced to return to earth even though she did not want to. She said - "Sriyantra is my base and my soul resides in it. That is why I had to come."

In another tale, Sriyantra has been linked to Adi Shankaracharya. 'Sri Vidya' is still respected among the Advaita monks. When Adi Shankaracharya asked Lord Shiva for the solution to world welfare, he gave him Sriyantra and Sri Vidya and said that a person who knows the practice of Srividya will be the owner of immense fame and wealth, while every creature who worships Sriyantra will get the fruits of worshiping all the gods because all the gods and goddesses reside in this Yantraraj.
